How It Was Painted

As expected, it took about 40 hours to complete this piece. It was a process that flowed smoothly and with great pleasure. While the portrait is very different from the original reference, this was a deliberate choice we discussed. I wanted to ensure that the work stands uniquely on its own, especially since someone else had already painted from the same reference.

Incorporating the Paraiba color was a rewarding challenge, and I feel it adds a distinctive touch to the painting. December was a challenging month, with colds going around, but I’m grateful to have been able to paint in good health. I truly appreciate your patience and understanding in allowing me the additional time needed to give this work the attention it deserved.

The Story Behind the Painting

For me, this portrait represents tenderness, femininity, mystery, and inner light. Naturally, it features the beautiful butterfly-shaped mono-earring you wore, which became a key element of the composition.

The painting holds a few charming details: a delicate hint of the diadem in your hair, understated to keep the focus on the butterfly, and carefully placed colorful accents that add vibrancy and harmony to the composition.

Further Details

If you’re happy with the result and once any requested adjustments are complete, I’ll move on to the final touches:

  • Printing and Decoration: The artwork will be printed on the highest-quality paper at a size of 60×80 cm (with white border). I’ll add metallic watercolor accents to the butterflies in the background, creating a subtle shimmer that enhances the overall elegance of the piece.
  • Personalization: The painting will be signed, and I’ll include a certificate of authenticity along with a personal note for you.
  • Delivery: The finished artwork will be carefully rolled into a protective tube for shipping to your address. All you’ll need to do is choose a frame to display it.

    A little story about

    the butterfly...

"As you can see above, I left painting the butterfly until the very last step. My husband, curious about the process, asked me, "How are you going to paint it?" I replied honestly, "I have absolutely no idea."
When the moment finally came, I sat down and started experimenting, completely in the moment. In less than two hours, the butterfly was there – earlier than I could even realize it was finished. It was one of those rare, magical moments where the painting seemed to flow on its own, without a clear plan – just intuition and creativity coming together in the most effortless way. Moments like this remind me why I paint."

If there’s anything you feel needs further adjustments, I’d be happy to work on it again to match your vision 100%.
